Every life: The Queensland Suicide Prevention Plan 2019-2029 provides a roadmap for a whole-of-government approach to suicide prevention in Queensland.
It is a subplan of the overarching Shifting minds: The Queensland Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs, and Suicide Prevention Strategic Plan 2023-2028, and sits alongside Achieving balance: The Queensland Alcohol and Other Drugs Plan 2022-27.
Vision
A healthy and inclusive Queensland where all people can access appropriate support, achieve positive mental health and wellbeing and live their lives with meaning and purpose.
Priorities
Phase one of the plan includes four priority action areas:
- Building resilience
- Reducing vulnerability
- Enhancing responsiveness
- Working together.
Phases two and three will refresh and renew the actions and impact of previous phases.
Enablers
Enablers support action and promote strategy success. The Queensland Suicide Prevention Plan describes meeting ambitious targets needs to include:
- Transformative systemic changes
- Cultural shifts
- Incremental growth.
These enablers are required in and beyond the health system. This includes areas such as, government, finance, business, media, education, recreation and leisure.
