The Fifth National Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Plan is the overarching document guiding suicide prevention activity at a national level. Each state and territory has its own suicide prevention strategy specific to the needs of the region and is guided by the national suicide prevention strategy.

National Suicide Prevention Office

The NSPO supports all Australians by collaborating with all levels of government and organisations involved in suicide prevention. By implementing strategies and fostering environments that prioritise suicide prevention, the NSPO creates opportunities to respond early and effectively to suicidal distress and support suicide prevention across Australia.

National

Preventing suicide is an agreed national policy priority. Significant reforms have occurred in Australia in the area of suicide prevention and it is agreed that an all-of-government response is required.

State and territory

Each Australian state and territory has its own suicide prevention strategy specific to the needs of the region and is guided by the National Suicide Prevention Strategy.
