LifeSpan approach to suicide prevention

Funded by the Paul Ramsay Foundation with the support of the NSW Government and NSW Mental Health Commission, NSW undertook a suicide prevention research trial in four sites. The LifeSpan approach to suicide prevention was implemented at each trial site rolled out over a 2.5 year period.

LifeSpan combined nine strategies that had strong evidence for suicide prevention into one community-led approach incorporating health, education, frontline services, business and the community.

The Black Dog Institute, managers of LifeSpan, were also funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health to provide support to the 11 PHNs who coordinated the 12 National Suicide Prevention Trials.
