The Charter principles

The National Communications Charter provides an opportunity for governments, organisations, community groups and individuals to play a role in reducing stigma around mental illness and suicide, while also promoting help-seeking behaviour through its guiding principles and messages.

There are eight principles in The Charter which have been developed to guide the way organisations, communities and individuals talk about mental health and suicide prevention.

Serving as a formal national commitment to developing and improving processes for collaboration, the principles provide a tangible way to put policy into practice.
