The Salvation Army is one of Australia's best known community organisations. Operating from over 400 sites across Australia, the organisation is involved in a wide range of humanitarian activities including homelessness, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, employment support, financial counselling, disaster relief and the provision of emergency relief to people in crisis. In the Cumberland LGA, The Salvation Army has had a strong presence for over 100 years, and operates a thriving multicultural church community and a broad range of community support activities including, financial counselling, emergency relief and casework support, a community cafe, affordable food market, a driver training school, and free legal services.
