Mental Health Commission of NSW
The Mental Health Commission of NSW is an independent statutory agency responsible for monitoring, reviewing and improving mental health and wellbeing for people in NSW. It works with Government and the community to secure better mental health and wellbeing for everyone. Suicide prevention is a key focus.
There is a wealth of evidence that shows suicide and the suffering it represents can be prevented through strategies aimed at individuals and entire communities. One of the Commission’s priorities has been to ensure this evidence is put into action, as outlined in Living Well: A Strategic Plan for Mental Health in NSW 2014-2024, developed by the Commission and adopted by the NSW Government in 2014.
