Join Life in Mind at the National Suicide Prevention Conference 2018

Posted 24th July 2018

The team behind Life in Mind, a digital gateway that connects organisations and communities with access to programs, services, resources and research within suicide prevention will be on hand throughout the 2018 National Suicide Prevention Conference (NSPC), in Adelaide this week.

Life in Mind project lead Amanda McAtamney who will be presenting at the conference said it is a very exciting time for the sector following the launch of the Life in Mind social media account in support of the #YouCanTalk campaign last week in Canberra.

Life in Mind is proud to be part of the #YouCanTalk collaboration which aims to give people the confidence to respond to friends and family when they need help and guide them to the right support services,” Ms McAtamney said.

“Our national digital gateway plays a key role in connecting people with the relevant resources, services and programs in order to have safe and honest conversations about suicide.

“The #YouCanTalk campaign demonstrates that you don’t need to be a professional or reach out to someone at risk.

“It is therefore fitting that the sector is coming together once again at the NSPC to discuss a range of topics and news that are relevant to the suicide prevention sector, providing the ideal opportunity for us to have #YouCanTalk conversations amongst our peers and colleagues.”

Life in Mind will have an exhibition booth throughout the conference where the more than 500 delegates in attendance are encouraged to visit to access a range of suicide prevention resources, find out more about the digital portal and discuss the #YouCanTalk campaign.

On Wednesday July 24, Amanda will be hosting an interactive presentation showcasing the key features of the website and how the online portal supports the sector, community and lived experience audiences.

If you are an organisation which works in suicide prevention or has a range of resources, services or programs that focus on suicide prevention, please visit the Life in Mind booth during the conference or visit our profile page to upload your organisation profile and resources.

For more information on the #YouCanTalk campaign, please visit the #YouCanTalk page to find out how your community, organisation, or business can start open and honest conversations about suicide and participate in the campaign.
