The SSH service provides fast response, short term psychological support for clients who are at high risk of or who have attempted suicide or engaged in deliberate self-harm in response to a situational crisis such as employment, financial, relationship stressors etc (which is not part of a long standing mental illness). The program also supports people bereaved of suicide. Operational during business hours from our Newcastle and Maitland sites. Clients can be linked to after hours services if required. Referral is via a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan, and appointments with a psychologist are offered face to face and/or by phone for up to 2 months. Upon completion of the program, clients are linked to other services if appropriate.
