A Safe Space is a welcoming community location that allows people experiencing suicidal ideation and psychological distress to access timely and responsive support. Support is from trained non-clinical mental health professionals within their community, outside a clinical setting. Safe Spaces promote the wellbeing of people through assistance and support with managing their distress, both current and in the future, and fosters identification of alternatives to emergency department presentations.
The hours of operation are typically after hours when access to other community or primary health services is reduced. Safe Space is located in Blacktown in Western Sydney.
