Professor George Patton is a medically qualified epidemiologist and child and adolescent psychiatrist; an NH&MRC SPRF, Professorial Fellow in Adolescent Health Research at the University of Melbourne; Director of Research at the Centre for Adolescent Health (CAH) and Head of Population Health Studies of Adolescents at MCRI. His research group has broad experience in epidemiological studies that include: studies of global mortality, disease burden and health risks across the child and adolescent years; long-term cohorts such as ‘The Victorian Adolescent Health Cohort Study’ a 25-year study of the effects of adolescent mental disorders on later life health and social adjustment; studies of late childhood and early adolescent development including the Child to Adolescent Transition Study (CATS), the International Youth Development Cohort (IYDS) and trials of community-based and primary care interventions in both Australian and international settings. He has published over 500 peer reviewed papers with over fifty thousand citations (WS).
