Jacinta (BSSc, BPsy(Hons), MClinPsy (MAPS, MCCLP)) has worked at AISRAP since 2000. She is a Senior Lecturer, Program Director and Course Convenor for the Graduate Certificate in Suicide Prevention and Master of Suicidology Programs, which she jointly developed with Professor Diego De Leo in 2001. She has developed, delivered and evaluated suicide prevention training since 2000. Jacinta has specialist clinical and research interest in the impacts of suicide on the worker, and in suicide risk assessment processes. She has worked clinically with suicidal people for 20 years and has supervised other psychologists in this domain for over a decade.
Jacinta is the author of Suicide Risk Screening Tool (STARS) protocol published first in 2015, and since 2010 has provided expert advice and guidance on suicide risk assessment to numerous organisations and government bodies in the suicide prevention sector Jacinta has worked on numerous research projects and consultancies including for example, Wesley Mission (LifeForce), SANE Australia, Department of Veteran Affairs, Mates in Construction, Suicide Prevention Australia, Roses in the Ocean, Australian Psychological Society, Queensland Corrective Services, and Commonwealth Department of Health and others.
Jacinta is a member on several national and international government and non-government advisory boards regarding suicide prevention, and has a reviewing role for peer-reviewed journals in this domain. She has presented research findings at a range of state, national and international conferences, has co-authored and edited a book, book chapters, and numerous peer-reviewed articles and government reports in the field.
