Dr Angela Nicholas is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Mental Health, Melbourne School of Population and Global Health, at the University of Melbourne. Her research focus is on improving the ability of community members to recognise when family and friends may be thinking about suicide and to respond in a helpful way. She also conducts research developing and testing media-based suicide prevention interventions and research aimed at improving our understanding of how people communicate their suicidal thoughts to those close to them. Angela has an emerging interest in suicide prevention in the trans community, and in the effect of belief in suicide prevention myths on suicide prevention behaviour.
