LifeSpan approach to suicide prevention
Funded by the Paul Ramsay Foundation with the support of the NSW Government and NSW Mental Health Commission, NSW is undertaking a suicide prevention research trial in four sites. The LifeSpan approach to suicide prevention will be implemented at each trail site. LifeSpan will be implemented using a staged roll out over a 2.5 year period.
LifeSpan combines nine strategies that have strong evidence for suicide prevention into one community-led approach incorporating health, education, frontline services, business and the community.
The Black Dog Institute, managers of LifeSpan, have also been funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health to provide support to the 11 PHNs who are coordinating the 12 National Suicide Prevention Trials.
