Join Life in Mind at the National Suicide Prevention Conference in Melbourne

Posted 22nd July 2019

Everymind’s national Life in Mind program will be in Melbourne this week at Suicide Prevention Australia’s annual National Suicide Prevention Conference, running from Monday 22 July – Thursday 25 July.

Life in Mind will be showcasing suicide prevention resources and activities through a Conference booth running throughout the four Conference days and Project Lead, Simon Pont will be presenting in a joint presentation with Suicide Prevention Australia, Roses in the Ocean and the University of Melbourne.

Everymind Suicide Prevention Project Lead, Simon Pont who is presenting at the Conference on behalf of Life in Mind is pleased to be sharing further updates to the Life in Mind website and recognising the extraordinary amount of work that is happening in suicide prevention across Australia.

“The Life in Mind national digital gateway plays a key role in connecting people with current information, services and programs, data and research, which is why we have launched a campaign leading into this years’ Conference,” said Mr Pont.

“We launched the #SupportTheCharter campaign from 1 July, sharing how Everymind staff have made a personal commitment to reducing stigma around mental ill-health and suicide, while also promoting help-seeking behaviour through The Charter's guiding principles and messages.”

“It is therefore fitting, that as the sector comes together at the National Conference to connect and share suicide prevention activities, that we encourage individuals to sign The Charter, share the campaign and take action to become signatories.”

To support The Charter campaign, Life in Mind will have a dedicated National Communications Charter Hub for attendees to sign, take photos and video footage and share with their networks. This space will be located on the Ground floor over the 4 Conference days and we encourage attendees to stop by before entering the Conference or during break times. If you’re one of the first 25 people each day, you’ll receive a free original KeepCup just for signing!

Throughout the Conference, Life in Mind will also have an exhibition booth, where attendees can say hello to our team and access a range of suicide prevention resources and information.

On Wednesday 25 July, Project Lead, Simon Pont will be hosting a joint presentation showcasing the key features of the Life in Mind website and how the online platform supports individuals, the sector, community and lived experience audiences.
