Men's Health Connected Online Summit
Featuring some of the best speakers and thought-leaders in men’s health today, leading into Men’s Health Week from June 15-21.
People are invited to take part in all, or some, of this men’s health marathon. The ball is entirely in your court.
Week 1 kicks off from June 1 – June 6 and is themed around Mental Health and Suicide Prevention – a topic that is always top of mind in men’s health, but even more so with predictions of heightened rates of suicide amid the coronavirus outbreak and ongoing social and economic ramifications.
Included in this week is a discussion on how to make suicide prevention more male-friendly and how to make male suicide a national priority.
Week 2 focuses on the health of men and boys, including a day-long event on the power of sport and how sport can be used as a tool for better mental and social health.
Also during this week (on June 10) the Men’s Health Information and Resource Centre, Western Sydney University will present a one-day symposium on the social determinants of boys’ health and wellbeing. This event will be of interest to health workers, social workers, community workers, academics, researchers, teachers and anyone with a general interest in boys’ wellbeing.
The Boys’ Health Symposium on Thursday 11 June will focus on innovative ways of working with boys and adolescents, the over-prescription of AHHD and how to develop healthy relationships in young males.
Week Four and Five will feature the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Male Health Meet-Up, the Men’s Health Research Symposium and a day dedicated to understanding the health needs of males who identify as gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex.
